•  You have worked hard to be a student of merit. Don't let typos keep you from achieving your goals.

  • Knowing what to include and what to leave out of an essay is tricky. Get help from someone who knows what committees want.

  • This essay must stand out in a pile of high-achievers' work.

  • Writers are too close to their words to see the mistakes.

  • Your thoughts may not be clear to readers.

  • Computer editing programs (and friends) are not as thorough as an experienced editor.

  • Spell-check misses many types of typos.

  • Sometimes first-draft vocabulary is not the best choice.

  • Your writing must be concise; every word counts.

  • An editor's fresh, objective eyes will see and cut superfluous words while retaining your voice.

  • You may not see your clichés, mixed metaphors, and overly used similes.

  • Weak verbs, adverbs, and too many adjectives will spoil your essay.

  • Choppy transitions, poor sentence structure, and unclear language will lead to rejection.

What My Service Includes

  • Academic essays take up to a week to edit because I need time to understand your strengths, achievements, and goals. (Plan on a few email chats.)

  • After I edit your work once, and then you make revisions, I ask to see/edit the revised version at no charge. Sometimes students and I go back and forth many times. This is one of the most important essays you will write. Make sure it is the best it can be.

  • I will edit your work referencing the The Chicago Manuel of Style, 17th ed. and Merriam-Webster's 11th Collegiate Dictionary.

  • All edits and comments will be offered via Microsoft Word.

  • My rate is $45.00. Second read is free.

  • Sometimes students wait until the last minute. I'm a mom; I get it. If you are one of these kids, I will do my best to work quickly for an extra fee.

  • Contact me for "emergency" rates.

  • If your submission contains extensive errors on every page, I reserve the right to stop working and renegotiate the price. If we cannot agree, I will return the project with a refund.
